I gained my first experience in software testing in 2004 – back then, exclusively with manual test cases and Excel as a documentation tool. However, I quickly realized that efficiency, scalability, and quality assurance require a modern testing strategy.

From Manual Testing to Scalable Test Automation

At a ticketing company, I took on technical responsibility for software testing and contributed to building a test team.
We introduced comprehensive test automation, adopted a keyword-driven approach, and implemented smoke, sanity, and regression test sets to minimize risks.
With the shift from Waterfall (XP) to agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), I experienced how testing and development became increasingly integrated.
During this phase, I was able to modernize existing test strategies, shorten release cycles, and significantly improve software quality.

Experience from My Recent Projects

In my most recent project, I supported test automation for the electronic patient record (ePA/Gematik).
I developed JUnit-based API tests, integrated them into GitLab CI/CD, and optimized the test strategy for a high-availability system.
Technologies such as OpenAPI, Swagger, Zephyr, and modern DevOps tools were used.

Previously, I have assisted numerous companies in the introduction and scaling of their test automation.
Beyond selecting the right tools for technical requirements, knowledge transfer, documentation, and hands-on training are just as critical to success.

For example, I successfully implemented Tosca in the line department of a major insurance company and enabled the team, through targeted coaching, to independently maintain and further develop the automation in the long term.
